Sport Premium

In 2016/2017 the school received an amount of £4,056 in respect of PE and Sport funding. This will be being spent in various areas and with the following expected impact.

The school is working with St Pauls Academy coaches who provide specialist PE teachers or qualified coaches to work alongside teachers in lessons in increase their subject knowledge and confidence in PE. This enables the school to forge links with PE teachers in local secondary schools to help primary staff improve their PE and sports provision. All staff are assessed by the Headteacher to ensure quality work of sports coaches and instructors.

• The funding enables the school to release their PE subject leaders for quality training; this is then brought back to the school and provides vital professional development in this area.

• The school expects this to impact on the number of children enjoying a wide and varied sports programme as part of their PE lessons.

The Reception classes all have PE built in to their weekly timetable which includes introducing new initiatives such as basic movement.

• The school expects to see physical development increase in the Foundation Stage as a result.

The funding is used to cover the cost of external sports coaches to run competitions and to increase pupil participation.

• The school has had a significant increase in the number of after school matches this year.

• The school expects to see pupils proudly promoting their school in sports activities.

The funding has assisted in providing places for pupils in after school sports clubs.

• The school has seen a significant increase in numbers of pupils attending after school sports clubs.

• The school expects to see an increase in the number of pupils playing for high quality clubs and engaging in after school sports activities.
